Plano is a city located mostly within Collin County, Texas, with a small portion of the city extending into Denton County. Being part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropoliton area, Plano has a population of 269,776, making it the ninth most populous city in the state and the 70th in the country. The population of Plano initially grew slowly, reaching 1,304 in 1900, and rising to 3,695 in 1960. By 1970, Plano began to feel some of the boom its neighboring cities had experienced after World War II.

The school district serves residents of an estimated 100 square miles in southwest Collin County, which includes 66 square miles in the city of Plano.

Plano International Festival – The Plano International Festival is an event held annually to promote cultural awareness and communication between cultural groups and advances Plano’s visibility as an international city. The festival is dedicated to educating, enlightening and enriching the multicultural experience for all of its citizens to showcase and celebrate the rich cultural diversity of the city.
